Part of the buchaille philosophy is to lead the way in terms of performance management and sustainable farming we have recently introduced a complete farm and animal software systems which forms a integral component of the buchaillie quality assurance program and we are leading the way with the DNA identification of all stud stock so as to assure the integrity of the buchaillie bloodlines.
Whilst we at buchaillie have had considerable success in the show ring taking home broad ribbons on each occasion entering the ring over the last number of years, we believe that whilst show ribbons are important the commercialization of the breed is even more critical in assuring the breeds long term viability in the Beef Industry so the continued improvement in feed conversion, carcase to live weight and muscle score as well as structural correctness is part of this strategic direction. Our performance recording of animals we are managing to achieve some interesting results in weight gain per day even in the middle of one of the worst droughts that Australia has seen with a average weight gain exceeding 1.9 kg per day ranging up to 2.3 kg.
Whilst the strategic direction of Buchaillie has moved from that of a boutique show stud to a full on commercial operation breeding and fattening Herefords and Hereford / Angus crosses for the commercial market, the Highlands are still very much of the business plan with the first drop of composite calves due latter in the year
